One of the most popular and immersive aspects of WoW is the creation of Guilds. Guilds consist of a collection of players who share a common goal or aspiration. This is viewed as a technique akin to cheating and is generally frowned upon by the community.

The creation of some Guilds is taken very seriously by some players. It is not uncommon for members of the same family or tightly knit friends to form exclusive Guilds, whilst other high ranking Guilds are known to charge extortionate amounts of gold for membership. Some Guilds even require prospective members to be sponsored or to ‘prove themselves’ to the Guild. Once accepted however, the Guild can open you up to a much more intimate gaming experience. Gamewise, the Guild offers partnerships and opens multiple players up to sharing information and tips throughout the realms. This sense of community is often carried over into the real world with friendships formed through online play.

Inclusion of the guilds raise the already immersive World of Warcraft to a new level entirely. Truly the sense of involvement and inclusion has never been so high in an MMORPG, and a well maintained Guild can pave the way for online friendships and a deeper sense of enjoyment.
